Freeware iTunes contoller app-- you control: iTunes

Just got an e-mail from You Control. These guys make various apps, and took over my favorite freeware iT app- PTH iTunes, or something like that.

From their site:

You Control: Tunes is a free utility that gives you complete control over iTunes from the Mac OS X menu bar. You don’t have to stop whatever it is you may be doing, switch to iTunes, take care of business and then go back to your original app. You can now simply pull down your very own custom menu that gives you access to the iTunes controls (Next, Previous, Volume, Play/Pause, Stop) as well as displaying the current track, artist and album. You can also navigate your entire iTunes music library from this menu as well so you never leave your current application.

If you like menubar idgits, this might be handy. More at [www.yousoftware.com] .

I use SizzlingKeys, as it makes use of global keyboard shortcuts.

Other than a couple things, it seems like it does the same stuff as the iTunes dock icon. There's lots of widgets that do that stuff too.

Some of the widgets are pretty cool, but they usually involve the keyboard and cursor.

The yc app could be handy if you're mousing around anyway. Hitting dedicated icons might be a bit faster than the Click-Hold-Select regimen, for some functions.

I prefer using keyboard shortcuts, though there is a memory curve to deal with.

If it's not something you can use, it doesn't cost you anything. If it is, it still doesn't cost you anything.

How easy is it to uninstall and does it control iTunes on other machines? I'm reading their site but don't see those questions answered.

I've been using You Control: iTunes for quite some time and I like it. It'scertainly worth looking at if you need something like this.

Thanks. It would be great if this app and the regular dock icon Right-Click function would let a user add a song to playlists. I really started missing that a few weeks ago when my iTunes shuffle started playing songs I had not heard in a while, so I wanted to add them to my iPod's playlist.
