I just replaced my daughters iPhone 5 battery with a new one monday from OWC. It does not hold a charge much better than her 2.5 year old original.

Today in 4.5 hours it dropped to 17% from a full charge. Barely being used as she was in school.


OWC is sending me a different one. Is there anything else I should do or check?

iOS 9? enable low power mode temporarily, see if that helps. It should last about 2 days.

Sounds to me like something is running in the background eating the battery. Usually something that's tracking location. Check to see if the location services icon is displayed perpetually. Things such has reminders/alerts with a geo-fence attached can eat the battery. It will perpetually check your location to see if you left/arrived at the indicated location. If you leave a map app open in the background that will also eat the battery for breakfast.

Heard a tidbit over the weekend, folks on the radio show had found the Facebook app was chewing battery. Apparently Facebook is always testing out new versions of the app, some drained battery others not so much.

Might be worth looking at...

Thanks I will check things tonight. Kind of bummed the battery did basically nothing. Good thing I made a nice holder to keep the upper half at a 85 degree angle while working in the iPhone.

quite the opposite here, I keep the phone in low power mode, it works just as well as in normal mode (for my needs) and I get 2 days battery life. But I don't have Breeze (never heard of it) and also I hear that facebook sucks battery, again an app I don't have.
