East Cleveland .. bankrupt combat zone.
East St. Louis... ditto
East LA... not such a great place.

East Detroit is an exception, because it's Canada.....
East Chicago.. well, it's all underwater so that doesn't count either.

Or am I wrong ?

Yes and the key is to find a de-luxe apartment. In the sky-eye-eye.

South L.A. is far worse than East L.A.

West L.A. varies, but in general is nice.

There is no North L.A.

It is what it is.

East Palo Alto. West Oakland has gone through cycles. West Sactoramento used to be the place to go for hookers. Parts of Far East Sacramento (Rancho Cordova) can be pretty rough.

East Palo Alto was the first place this made me think of, growing up in the Bay Area (mostly Redwood City and San Carlos) it wasn't somewhere we ventured. I've been gone from the area for the last 30 years, from what I understand it's a lot different now.

East Sacramento is a neighborhood of Sacramento. Rancho Cordova is a city on it's own.

East Cummington is mostly trees. i hear the bears get peckish sometimes when they can't find enough bird feeders to raid.

How about a little Kipling:

East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!

or TTwins

East is east, west is west
Two different colors on the map
You say, "Break the line, chew the fat"
Keep moving out into the gap

seems like a specious generalization to me

course there's only north and south here and they are both on the wrong side of the tracks ...

New Orleans East, I believe, is still a relative ghost town since Katrina.

Flint, MI is where I was born and raised. You learned early in life to stay out of the North End.

Just before fleeing to the wilds of Northern MI several years ago, the whole city had become dangerous, and a place to now avoid.

Seriously, you need to be very alert and on guard when traveling there. When I visit, I carry a handgun with my CPL.

hal, I used to live in 95816. R.C. is a part of the Sactomato Metro area and is closer to downtown than some neighborhoods within the city limits.

East Detroit is an exception, because it's Canada.....

There was an East Detroit till they decided that Detroit itself was so bad, and they didn't want the association, they changed their name to Eastpointe with the hope of getting some of the Grosse Pointe's reputations to rub off...

It didn't work, did it? smiley-laughing001

I used to visit East Detroit quite a bit back in the eighties. I thought it was kind of dumb renaming it.

Cincinnati's east side tends to be more desirable and accessible (in terms of transportation, not cost) than the west side, but I'll take the downtown and Clifton areas over both any day.

Some of E Palo Alto looks the same as it did decades ago. Used to be a couple gun shows there every year.

Now they have an Ikea.

East Seattle, it's a lake. Lake Washington.

BTW, I absolutely HATE it when some company says their Seattle office, when it is over on the east side of Lake Washington. That is either Bellevue, Renton, Redmond or Kirkland. Some even consider Issaquah or Kent as "Seattle Corporate HQ"

Is that an opinion, or a fact? Either way, I don't see your point. It's not like I'm going down there to wait for a chance to shoot shoplifters or anything. RollingEyesSmiley5

If no one attacks me, my gun will stay out of sight, unused. HOWEVER, I'll be DAMNED if I let some piece of CHIT make a victim out of me or my loved ones.

So, the bottom line is, you don't F*** with me, and I won't F*** with you. But if you DO F*** with me, I'll damn well see to it you get back double the F***'n of what you dish out. mad smiley

Exactly. I could easily live in East L.A. Full of life, full of commerce. Close to downtown, good transportation, a food paradise, great people, historic.

Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware of a man named Leroy Brown

It is what it is.
