According to this page, US has about 24.9 devices per 100 inhabitants. These include smart WiFi thermostats, and washer/dryers that use Wi-Fi for remote monitoring.

I know some of you have WiFi thermostats. davemchine even has an WiFi oven!

What other "Things" do you have on your network?

nothing but computers, phones and ipads here... used to have a boxee box connected, but it was wired...

The definition of "things" on that link is somewhat broad. It's not just "things" that you personally own.

The only "things" I have don't seem to meet the definition-- 3 IP cameras, water meter, gas meter, electrical meter.

Lots of things that have MAC/IP addresses, some even have two (WiFi + Ethernet), most goes back to before Internet of Things was a thing.

I think it does !!! does it send you a warning if someone opens the door, or if the door doesn't fully close for example?

A NEST and three cameras.

It has alerts for opening and closing, via push noitification or email.

Tells me how long its been open/closed for -- so Im assuming if it doesnt close the little icon will say its open. It can send me an alert if its open for longer than XX minutes/hours.

Im sure more. Ive only had it a week or so.

Very little aside from the obvious: the Macs, gigabit switch, router, cable modem, iDevices. Also a few Tiles. Not sure anything else would qualify.

Both of our clickers wouldnt work anymore -- new batteries, change freq, nothing. So was going to buy new. But $35 a pop. And that was on ebay even.

So started looking at a wifi solution -- found the chamberlain MyQ on ebay NIB for $50. Works with existing openers. Mine is a 13 year old Overhead Door model. Setup took about 5 minutes. Its basically a small hub and door sensor.

Sears and others have full systems with it built in, about the cheapest I saw was $250.
