I installed four bulbs in a dimmer fixture and I am having some flickering on occasion. the dimmer is only a couple of years old, but is not LED capable

More likely the quality of the LED bulbs than the dimmer. Installed new low budget LED bulbs from HD in new ceiling fan with dimmer and they flickered. Went back and bought the higher quality LED (read more expensive by a factor of nearly double) and they worked just fine. Try getting better quality bulbs and your problem will likely go away.

+1, had the same experience. Cheapo Feit LED bulbs flickered, costlier Philips LED bulbs worked just fine.

Ditto that experience. Have only been buying the Philips LED since my initial set-ups; now have no problems. I'm using various Lutron switches & dimmers with no problems at all.
