El Capitan broke my long battery life - I think

I don't see any unusual activity in Activity Monitor.
If it's not El Cap, it must be one of the other upgrades: 1TB SSD and MS Office 365/ 2016.

Or, the tracker and cookie eruption in Safari. This was mentioned earlier and I checked. It's horrible! Even with "ask websites not to track me", AdBlock Plus and Ghostery it's horrible. I upgraded from Mavericks, and it was never that bad.

Go back to Activity Monitor and check the Energy tab.

Also, Adblock Plus and Ghostery are probably not great choices for content blockers. Check out uBlock:

Those numbers don't seem too bad. Perhaps it is a hardware problem…

Installed ublock; deleted the others.
Power back to 88% -- I'll test the battery when it's 100%.
It should easily last the rest of the day and have 50% power left over...

Using Chrome?

If so, that's yer culprit. Ditch it.

"So apart from the things mentioned in you post, I also disabled bluetooth, and killed Chrome. I have a feeling its Bluetooth with handoff/airdrop that maybe causing the problem. "

Battery Life seems back to normal. Since I changed several things, I'm not sure of the biggest item.
To answer the Chrome question, I never use it. Only Safari.
I did notice that Flash changed my preference settings. Now it's back to:
"Block all sites from storing, using camera and mic, peer assisted networking"
