This could make me buy an iPhone if they don't add it to Android soon. I think I first asked Waze for this 2 years ago.

Edit: It says it was live for Android a month ago, but I don't see how to enable it.

Edit 2: Okay, magnify glass > gas stations. So far it doesn't work as well as GasBuddy. It only shows a very limited number of stations very close to the route. I had to add a destination off my main route to get it to show more stations that I knew existed.

So why not just use GasBuddy?

Waze has had it for a while. Not as up to date as gasbuddy.

My experience on Android is it doesn't work on trips. You have to be stopped or be able to put in a specific address to search nearby. And then it won't properly share an address as a destination to either Waze or Maps.

It doesn't work while you are already moving on a point to point trip. You have to at least add a destination to a trip (not allowed while you are driving), or stop and then look for gas prices

Fill - Hmm. I've never had problems using gasbuddy to find the closest station no matter where in the US I've been. (OK... only from New York to St. Louis.. haven't used it out West). Then again I'm on iOS.

I guess it could work better on iOS. Have you used it while driving solo on a trip in traffic and bad weather? How well does it work to tell you if prices are better in Berkshire, or head on to Westerville (without knowing the zip code or suburb name ahead of time), and how easy is it to transfer the address of a location to Maps while driving?

I think Filliam is correct - Gas Buddy doesn't work while you are moving. At least that is what I have found. You actually have to stop on the road (shoulder/rest area/exit) to get results. Otherwise it just provides a nice blank screen while it tries to decide your zip code, and never gets there because you are constantly moving. It sounds as though Waze is the same.

With a map app, you should be able to drop a pin and check for the lowest gas price in a radius around that pin location. You have fixed a point/position. I am not sure Gas Buddy allows for that except by setting a zip code, which you probably won't know.

I just use AAA's app to get gas prices. You can use it while you're moving.

Arco is inexpensive, Chevron is not.
