My opinion...

Unless you use or carry the camera in a way which subjects it to copious amounts of LCD scratching then don't use a protector.

It just impairs the view of the LCD, which is already made to resist scratches. Also, I don't know specifically about Sony, but with Canon cameras, damaged LCDs are easily and inexpensively replaced.

Must have in my opinion.

After my son got a big scratch on his Nex-6 LCD, we have gotten one on each camera including our RX-100m3. The Sony covers are very clear and I don't even notice it at all.

Never saw a need for a cover on a camera or phone. Just use it.

I got one of those hard covers for my phone and it's the best thing I could have bought as an accessory. Not sure if they make them for cameras.

Hurts like a bastid...

Got the Golebo anti-glare for my Canon. Easiest to apply protector I have used.
Actually improves viewing in bright daylight.
