Google is full of answers on how to disable the keyboard on a MacBook Pro but I can't find out how to turn my keyboard back on with the Mac Mini. My cat laid on the keyboard and there's no telling what button combination he pushed but it was enough to disable the keyboard. The mouse works fine and the keyboard lights up so I know it's getting power from the USB port. All help is appreciated, and no, I'm not able to get rid of the cat.

Is it wireless?

The Magic Keyboard has a slide switch on the back edge of the device. Slide the switch to turn on the device (you'll see green). Earlier Apple Wireless Keyboard models have a power button on the right side of the device. Pressing the button activates a green LED on the top of the device, near the button.
When you turn these devices on, they will appear as Connected in the Bluetooth section of System Preferences. If a device doesn't appear there, make sure it's charged or replace it batteries, and make sure it has been paired with your Mac.

after unplugging an external hard drive and the mouse... tough to sort thru the spaghetti of cables today(haha) I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in - Obviously that worked.

my cat does this on a regular basis.

i forget which modifier key it is - shift, option or command - push it five times and your keyboard will work again. its some sort of accessibility / feline defense mode.

...its the option key. came home to a disabled keyboard...
