Peyton Manning did not get paid for Bud plug at the end.

During the game the wife commented about the lack of Budweiser commercials. It all made sense in the end where Bud spent their advertising dollars when Manning says he's going to (paraphrasing) hug his family, kiss his wife and "drink a lot of Budweiser tonight". BUT....

Apparently he DID NOT get paid (in the traditional sense) for this apparent advertising. It's illegal for players to advertise for an alcoholic drink on field/during the game. So in Denver, CO, the land of plaid wearing, mountain biking, hipster beard micro breweries. Peyton actually does drink Bud. Who needs all that froo froo flavored beer anyway ;)

Peyton owns two Budweiser distributors in Louisiana, so that could be an angle.
But I'm willing to bet he just likes Bud. As do I.

"DID NOT get paid (in the traditional sense)" and "Peyton owns two Budweiser distributors" pretty much covers it.

Was kind of sad. He didn't need to do that. Spoiled the moment for me.

He did it before two years ago as well! LOL
When the Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers during the playoffs in 2014, in a post-game interview Manning said, “What’s weighing on my mind is how soon I can get a Bud Light in my mouth,”. Bud Light signed a six-year sponsorship deal with the NFL worth $1.2 billion back in 2011.

What annoys me the most is when those football commentators flash $20,000 watches on screen. You know those were comped for screen time thumbs down

I find it interesting that he violated a league policy but Budweiser has a $200 million dollar a year contract to be the "Official Beer of the NFL" and they run a bunch of beer ads during the game.

He did it twice. First time was on the field right after the game and he said, "I'm going to drink a lot of Bud.

The second time was after the trophy presentation, and he first said, "I'm going to drink a lot of beer... (pause, oops) a lot of Bud." Really tacky, especially from a guy worth $219,420,619.

Let it just be a reminder of what the game is all about. Products. Try not to think about it and enjoy the secondary sports aspect.

I was trying to figure out who would pay Peyton Manning for a butt plug....

Eating Papa John's and washing it down with Bud is a recipe for intestinal difficulties and banging headaches. With all that money he could do way better.

The way I saw it he was making a personal statement not an endorsement. He also said he wanted to kiss his wife. Did the Gay community get all up in arms about that?

I thought it was super-tacky too, but Disney has done the same "I'm going to Disney World" thing so it's hardly unprecedented.

But if it's really illegal to advertise alcohol on the field, he should be held accountable. What he did was flagrant, and if illegal, it was flagrantly illegal.

These players were PAID to say they were going to DisneyWorld/Land in an obvious commercial "in the moment" to make a few thousand bucks in cash. No one cared.

But an UNPAID STATEMENT by Peyton Manning is disgusting, tasteless, and sad. Ohwait... are we talking about Bud? Or what Manning said? Just kidding! I drink Bud a lot. It's my favorite beer. I like that it's "mild flavored" It goes well with most any food. I did not get paid for this statement.

Agreed, much ado...

My only criticism is that doing it a second time, it was clumsily done.

He made the statement the first time down on the field, and was then asked to repeat it later. If he could have been a little more smooth about it, it wouldn't have come off as 'tacky", which I agree with. He had a lot going on and was trying to gracefully dodge the retirement question. Save that for another time. This was about the team and the win.

Still, it was no big deal.

I fully expected a "...going to Disneyland" plug from somebody. Those were patently obvious paid endorsements, but don't recall seeing one lately.

So Manning throws in a little self-serving plug.

BFD.

Kaepernick wears Beats to a TV interview.

Nobody cares he's doing an endorsement. The only reason it was newsworthy is because he defied a rule that was to protect another sponsor- Bose?

I didn't know that Bud/INBEV owned Shocktop.

That makes the one Bud commercial a bit ironic. There is a scene where the narrator say's "It isn't a fruit cup" as the guy flicks the orange slice off his glass with contempt.

Yet they own a brand whose "mascot" is an orange slice.

I always liked the "I'm going to Disney World" thing.
My daughter and I even texted that we wondered if he was going to do it.
I thought it was a great idea, from whoever thought it up.
Peyton has small children, why wouldn't he go to Disney World. Lol

Eli said it and he actually went. I remember seeing the pics about it later.

Which Shock Top is. Which they own.

IMHO it was a dig at "Those damn hipsters and their faggy beers," not another brand in particular.
