favorite way to cook bacon

When I was a little kid my grandmother would cook bacon in a wizgrid. Basically two heated pieces of non-stick metal that squished it and let all the fatty juices run off. What was left was a nice crisp piece of bacon. mmmm. A friend of mine uses a plastic thing in the microwave that the bacon is draped over and the juices run off, it worked pretty well also. Any other creative ways to cook bacon out there?

I would like a wizgrid thingy myself.

I like to cook it low-medium with a weight on it. I usually use the flour pot sitting on top of a corningware glass pie pan, on top of the bacon. I like it mildly cripy and flat, no uncooked fat ruffled edges.

Wife cooked a pound last night. I don't eat much of it anymore, though.

But that wizgrid sounds good.

Pop some in the microwave and nuke it as a snack for the kids. (I KNOW IT"S BAD FOR US/THEM!!!)

I wonder if a tortilla / quesadilla cooker would work well with bacon?

I've been cooking my bacon in the microwave for years. I lay it out on a dinner plate covered with paper towels, with another towel or two on top. It's easy to get it cooked the way you want it (I like mine less than really crispy), and the paper towels absorb the fat well. I've never had trouble with it curling, but I also use the thick sliced stuff, which might make a difference.

baking it in the oven on a sheet pan works great, and is the only way to really cook lots of bacon for a family or group.. 375 for about 12-15 minutes, sometimes I flip, sometimes I don't.

How long do you cook it for?

Cooked on a grill outdoors. I put the bacon on a piece of aluminum foil so that it didn't fall through the holes in the grill. Didn't work so well with turkey bacon, probably because it has so much less fat, and so burned a bit too easily.

cheers

I like to do it in the frying pan, but admit the oven works much better.

I also like to use the microwave. I think it's about two minutes for one slice and I usually ad a minute per extra slice, most microwaves vary, so I would try a minute at a time until you reach you desired level of crispness.

The oven is the easiest. Just line the pan with foil, then heat in oven, 375-400 until it looks as crispy as you like it. Remember it will crisp up just a bit after removal from the oven. Pour off the excess grease after removing the perfect bacon slices and throw the foil away. Voila.

I can tell oven-baked bacon vs pan fried and I prefer pan-fried.

Microwave. We have a bacon cooker. A ridged round hard plastic tray designed to let the fat fall away. We put a paper towel under and over to minimize cleanup (under) adn spattering (over) I forget how long we cook it.

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.
