Procrastinate You Fools ! Tax Day is.... April 18th this year.

"Why not? Because April 16 is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in Washington D.C. That's Saturday. It's being observed on Friday, April 15. The Internal Revenue Service is in Washington. So that's pushing the filing deadline to the next business day, which is Monday, April 18.

Most states, including Ohio, are also pushing back the filing deadline to April 18 to line up with the IRS."

Considering I JUST got an updated K-1, that's helpful. Ugh.

My wife has an uncle who gave her stocks as gifts growing up. Motorola, CocaCola, pharmaceutical, etc.. random stuff. 4.02376 shares of this. 2.3716 shares of that. Some pay tiny dividends. And they are not all linked to one brokerage like Scottrade or something. All of them are different brokerages. Tons of random paperwork in minuscule amounts. Some are still in her maiden name. Some are sent to her parents address. When it comes to tax time, i want to wring his neck. cursing smiley

People in MA can procrastinate yet one more day. And run a marathon too.

Consolidate to Scottrade.

I was very happy that by the time she died grandmother had consolidated all her holdings there.

It was easy to divide among her kids.

But remember, if you are a procrastinator and are filing for a refund on your 2012 taxes, that deadline for your postmark is still April 15, 2016.

Unless they have changed it recently, I believe it is received by that date.

It was changed about 20 years ago. Please don't ask me how I know.
