Have a drainage problem do we? Probably the best thing going is a shop vac, I've been there many times.

seepage about 2 times a year small to large puddles from 2 directions. down the center of the room

We just got 3-3.5 inches of rain in less than 24 hours

Small shop Vac is the ticket (so I can lift it to empty it) and box fan

It is best if I do it right away, just in case it rains more, so water is not covering the entire floor.

One area is 3/4 dry, the other 1/3

Best remedy: Buy a house on a hill.

Now the winds have just kicked up to 25 mph - but no rain.

We're supposed to get pounded in the Mid-Atlantic today. No joy, except I will have a hearty laugh at all the PS 3 campers/scalpers when they get flooded out.

Thankfully that storm didn't do much damage in Birmingham. At least it sounds like you got clean-up down to a science.

I planted 4 jasmines during a pause in the rain & know they got a good soaking later on.

Wonderful. I didn't check our basement this morning. Got flooded like hell by Ivan a couple years back. Have to run over there at lunchtime.

I think I'm putting the carpet guy's kids through college...

We just got pounded again last night. Not so much more water in the basement this time, but we lost the second greenhouse due to the wind. The forecast is just for occasional showers today, so I have to get out and clean up some debris and finish taking greenhouse V2.2 down before Mother Nature lends a hand again. Greenhouse number one (the little trooper that it is), needs just a few repairs before it faces another storm like last night.

So suddenly vacuuming out the basement seems like a pleasure compared to what else I face today.

Stupid weather.
