You'll still have IPv4 on your home network. I do not see that ever changing for a long, long, long time (even for many enterprise and government) with internal networks. Yes, IPv6 will be (already is) on the network alongside IPv4, like many are now, but people are not going to rely on remembering IPv6 addresses for device locations, etc., so IPv4 will still be active for as long as the routers and devices support it.

i was referring to the external IP, but strange, when I google "what is my IP" I get the normal IPv4 number. I am not sure why my modem says that thing. All I know is that "it just works" (unlike Apple software these days)

There is a conversion that is being made, and you don't have to worry about it. The equipment does it for you. Each and every IPv4 address has an IPv6 equivalent, Think of the set of IPv4 being a subset of IPv6.

That's about all of the mis-information I have on the subject.
