tuna steak marinade without soy sauce

I'm planning on grilling a tuna steak for dinner. I thought we had soy sauce. We don't. Any favorite marinade recipes you have that don't require soy sauce?

Okay, I took that as a recommendation, so balsamic, salt, pepper and garlic is what it's going to be. I'm sure it will be just wonderful. Thanks.

Very easy one that works for everything is olive oil and fresh squeezed lime juice with some salt and pepper. Use about equal portions olive oil and lime juice and marinate for a couple of hours at least, turning the meat every now and then.

I'll definitely keep those options in mind for next time. But the balsamic, salt, pepper and garlic turned out just fine. Thanks!

Wasn't the balsamic too strong for the tuna...?

1 Tbs rice wine vinegar
1 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs Soy sauce
Which if you don;t have ingredients is basically teriyaki sauce

when using vinegar on fish no more than 30 minutes otherwise the acid will start to cook fish.

If it's a quality piece of fish I'd use salt and pepper and a bit of olive oil. Only crummy fish gets heavily flavored marinade in our house.

They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Good to hear.

I don't like balsamic, because of the heavy taste. The same with shoyu, these days.

But not too long ago, I had a salad at a friend's, and enjoyed the dressing. It turned out to be very lightly flavored with balsamic (I don't remember what the other ingredients were).

So, I'm tempted to get it a shot in the future, just in very spare measure.
