It's been a busy week working to handle Mom's affairs, but I finally have a moment to thank those of you who took the time to share your kind thoughts in the thread about my Mom's passing: [forums.macresource.com]

I don't think I've fully comes to terms with her passing yet; it will probably be some time before I do. The kindness of your words have helped to soften the blow, though, and for that I thank you.

My parents died about 15 years ago and I still say things to them nearly every day. Mom, look at all the finches! Dad, what's THAT growing down there?
I don't think you every "get over" losing a parent, but you do come to terms. Glad that the Forum Family came together for you!

I think everyone has their own experience. That said, in my experience, you're right. It was a sad day when my son realized he never sees my mom, and asked why.

Death and dying of our loved ones are truly difficult experiences. I've noticed that as I've grown older, I don't care nearly as much about my own passing as that of my family and friends.

The wound eventually heals, which allows the remaining scar to bring good memories. Be blessed.

Dan, I hadn't seen the post about your Mom passing. I've been too wrapped up in Mavis' and my health issues and getting little sleep.

It's always frustrating to me when all I can offer to a friend are my words and I know that words feel so inadequate. Even so, I want you to know that I'm sending you mental "man hug" and an offer to lift a margarita with you in a toast to your Mom.

It's not that far from Long Beach to Dana Point, if you ever feel like getting together again.

Be well and heal your heart fast, knowing that you will always be able to call up the good memories that you have of your Mom.
