Video [youtu.be]

CBS merely announced the name of the upcoming Star Trek TV series, and gave us the briefest glimpse of its titular ship, the Discovery. What could it possibly reveal about the show? Well, if you’re a Star Trek nerd like we are, it can tell you a lot—including when in the timeline the series might take place.

Still seeing a dorito. But the show sounds good.

Also:

Quote
Star Trek: Discovery executive producer Bryan Fuller was asked how much the Discovery was influenced by this design, and his answer was that it was “to a point that we can’t legally comment on it until we figure out some things.” So maybe the design of the ship will change between now and when the show actually comes out—in fact, executive producer Heather Kadin has said that this design isn’t final.

It's a dead ringer for the Ralph McQuarrie revision of the Enterprise for "Star Trek- Phase 2," a mid-70's TV revival that never happened (it was replaced by the first movie when Star Wars took off).

They really have the hubcap/pizza slicer design down

I suspect a Klingon Empire intellectual property lawsuit shortly.

I'd hate to see what sort of damages they'd ask for...

I also thought the back half reminded me of a Klingon war bird. I say sue the Klingons...or vice versa...hell, someone should get sue-loo-ed but this looks funky to me. I liked Enterprise and it was true to form for the TOS pre-quell. I'm also not liken' the pay model from CBS on this series, but that's just me. Trek should be free, it's part of America..not Hillary's America but just good ol' American TV history.

I think what bothers me the most is the straight lines going from the saucer to the nacelles. If it were even slightly curved I think it would look much better. B/c the saucer is well...as saucer. Nice and round. Then you have what looks like a giant triangle shoved up its ass.

I like it; it's different.

It's also not final: [trekcore.com]

The big question is, is it the original timeline or silly JJverse. Also, when does this series occur?

The fan films have better CGI than what CBS put out on that clip. Honestly, calling it amateurish would be insulting the better fan films.
