This is an HDTV tuner for both ATSC (OTA- Over the air) and QAM (unscrambled cable channels) HD channels.

I got (well asked for) one for xmas. It works very well, I was fairly impresses how fast the tuner is compared to older Samsung models, which seems to still be a problem among HDTV tuners.

I use it with the DVI video output to my Samsung 27" HDTV, it's a regular aspect CRT, but it still looks great with HDTV signals.

The LG also has a VGA video output, so if your HDTV doesn't have DVI you can use VGA and get better quality than component video. I suppose you could also hook up a PC monitor, although I haven't tried this, and you can only select DVI or VGA, not both at the same time, AFAIK.

I use just a plain set-top antenna and get good reception, but YMMV. Have been meaning to hook it up to the cable to see what happens, but that hasn't happened yet.

It looks sharp, the enclosure I mean, and the remote is large and easy to use.

I would recommend it to anyone who needs an HDTV tuner, and you get a 'bonus' DVD player with HD upconversion.
