my daughters are thieves!

my young adult daughters are thieves!

they are smart, strong and brave.

but whenever they leave our apartment (like after the 4 days thanksgiving weekend) we are suddenly low on apple charging blocks for the iphone 6s/6s+.

now they deny the quiet act of purloining those white square do-dah block thingys that plug into the a/c and the usb->lighting cable get plugged into them but i know better.

so...are all of those white square do-dah block thingys the same?

is buying apple's version the best?

are there alternatives?

is this a decent price: [www.thewirelessboysonline.com]

and please don't tell my daughters we are re-stocking.

they will only suddenly show up and want to take us to dinner but first they will need to charge their phones!

any and all thoughts are appreciated.

be well.

rob

The Apple ones are the best, I read an article that tore down the Apple charger, as well as some 3rd party chargers and the site pointed out why Apple's are not only better, but safer.

I would by the larger cubes, the ones that are 10 watt or 12 watt, they will charge the phones faster, and if you get an iPad, you will have a backup charger for that as well.

Our host has them on sale for $6.75 for the 10 watt version:

...and $12.75 for the 12 watt version:

Lol! My adult taught has done the same thing! I resorted to buying colored lightning cables. For the power adapter I've considered putting a strip of colored duct tape. I bought the cables from our OWC host.

I have the same issue. I buy a few chargers and cables every year from our sponsor. They're on sale right now.

And then when I visit the kids, I steal 'em right back. devil smiley

After my daughter got her first apartment, we had to start locking our freezer. She would come in when we were gone and just go shopping in the freezer.

Apple's chargers are the best, and the blockhead ones are the ones to get. Our sponsor offers them; genuine Apple too (at this point, I'd never buy anything that said Apple that wasn't a computer or iDevice on Amazon): [eshop.macsales.com]

I do wish Apple's bulky blockhead style ones were two-port.

For third-party, I'm a big fan of Anker. Lots of options at good prices. I have a couple of their 5- and 6- port chargers (mostly for family trips, but they do get used regularly). Here they are @ Amazon: [www.amazon.com]

or just get a USB outlet.. they can still steal the cables but those are cheap compared to the blocks.

$10.75 at our friendly overlords shop

Would love to do those myself, but the area that's the defacto charging spot is the kitchen counter (of course) and the spot is where the GFCI outlet is (with the test/reset buttons) so a lot of things are not possible for me there.

Someone recommended I do a double box and just set the second one up as a charger block but the backspash is brick so that's a no-go either, so wall-wart it has to be.

I <3 helping the kiddoes out, but the minute your back is turned is shameful and wrong. I hope she's not still doing that when she finishes growing up.

Maybe phone cords and chargers are like lighters for smokers.
I have a fairly healthy sense of mine and not mine but I've seen the lighter thing over and over again after it was pointed out to me.

In each bedroom I placed a wall plate with both outlets and USB ports. It screws into the receptacle so it can't walk away casually. Like this one below. I have anker multi port chargers for traveling.

I bought a handful of these 2 port aukeys when they were on sale for $5 not long ago.

Will charge iPads too, and not much bigger than a normal block.

Its not a super fast charger like some of the big blocks, but we dont really use them that way, they are for overnight chargin.

Yep, we have the 5-port Anker and I only get pink NewerTech cables from our sponsor. Not a single one of those cables has walked away in the past 2 years— I bought 2 more this past week for the other iThings.

This...we have one in the kitchen with a multi plug cable that fits everything in the house. Yes, it works on the iPhone and iPad but it's slower than the real deal and definitely doesn't charge if there's something else plugged in as well.

If you don't want to replace the outlet get a usb outlet cover. Models for the standard and decor style outlets.

Another vote for the 4 x 10W Anker. Great for travel or a permanent charging station at home. Apple-like quality.

I've bought extras of the Apple chargers at GW for $3.00 each. Apparently they ship all computers to their "Computer Store" in Pittsburgh, but all the peripherals stay here.

Gee, have I mentioned before that one thing I like about my HTC One M9 is it has a USB charger and I don't need to buy expensive proprietary charger cords for my phone or other devices? Just askin'... grinning smiley

Hmm. . . We have non-Apple iPhone 5 chargers kicking around. Seem to work OK. Should I not use them?

Just noticed an envelope with two iPhone 5 Power Bundles (car and wall charger, plus USB-lightning cable), came in 2013 from some place called Chaos Commerce in NJ. No-name stuff; never used it.
