I'm astounded by the power they are getting out of a 2 liter 4 banger. Too bad they can't do that with an 8 liter alloy V-8. Now THAT would be fun.

One of the reasons GM is so fond of Buick, is that marque is the strongest seller in China, especially with the growing middle class market. Pontiac and Olds didn't make the cut.

Looks like the new Volvo wagon, which they ruined with the slant back -- removing a trademark of volvo wagons for decades -- and useable cargo space

We owned both an XC90 and XC70 (both 2005 models) and they were OK cars. The 90 was head and shoulders better than the 70 in every way, even tho they cost about the same new.

Ours looked identical to this

For the record, Volvo cars IS a Chinese company; has been since 2010.
"It is the largest overseas acquisition by a Chinese automaker."

It is only useful to me if it is a 3-seater. Nice design, but pretty does not equal practical.

Maybe a Chrysler Pacifica? 36 miles electric-only range before the gas motor is needed.

That's a station wagon like El Camino was a truck.

The station wagon lost out to the minivan. Now the minivan is losing out to the SUV. Most of these 'station wagons' are really just sedans with a hatchback.

Ugh, that thing is ugly!

Thankfully, station wagons have not "lost" to anything becasue the engineering capability now exists for these things to eek out as much performance as a sedan!

THIS is a proper station wagon:

R63 AMG, except that the engines had a couple of major flaws.

BMW ALPINA B3 with all wheel drive is another very nice wagon.

I can agree with that. It basically a giant 70's wagon as a SUV. TONS of room in the back of those things.

Start at $50K tho. And add anything and its basically $60K. Easily $70K with some extras.

Of course, the same thing in GMC Yukon is $20 K more -- and a fully loaded Escalade can come close to $100K.

For a chevy.

My daily driver (when my wife drives her Volt) is a 2004 Passat Diesel wagon with less than a 100k miles. I will keep it until one of us dies and likely I will kick off before the Diesel.

And that's the one I'd *love* to replace mine with, the last of the rear wheel drive Volvos. The only downside IMO is no manual tranny option. Though the manual is what makes one of my vintage (1983) still fun to drive and the 965 has enough grunt not to need one. Mrs. Zealand and the kids all prefer to drive/ride in my car though that's also probably because they don't get the opportunity to nearly as often as the Odyssey.

I love wagons and have three, two Volvo's and a %% Chevy. I don't understand slanting the rear posts forward on the new wagons, they're doing it for looks, but they are limiting the usable space inside...kind of defeats the whole "wagon" idea.
