What causes half my internet to go down?

This happens every so often, and it's going on right now. Some internet sites are reachable, others just give me "Safari can’t find the server." errors. I thought maybe the sites themselves were down, but when I connect to a neighbor's wireless network, they work fine. DNS server problems, maybe?

last couple days, my dsl has been wonky. It is as if it is conking out for a few minutes at a time. If I watch the lights on the adsl modem, they are aren't doing anything. Then after I get the error message that the page can't be reach and I try the page again, the modem lights up and everything is okay.

I saw this about a year ago, but it went away. Guess another call to my provider is in line.

Secondly, some sites I visit must not like my ISP. Sometimes it seems they are blocking it and at other times I slip through.

I've got the same problem where do you add those...in the window under "Ethernet" that says dns?

Is there a particular form for entering them.

and, what do they do?
