Bootable DVD+R

I am not successfully making a bootable DVD+R to install Peppermint7OS onto a UBUNTU 16.04 LTS running ThinkPad R61 laptop. No issue whatsoever when I installed the same on a 7 year old Windows 8.1 Pro running HP Pavilion desktop. USB stick doesn't not show up in UBUNTU either sad smiley What am I missing here?

SoCal for now.

Did the USB stick previously show up as a boot device? Depending on the BIOS, it isn't supported on some computers of that era.

Did you use a tool to configure it as a bootable device? One small program I have kept around for about 8 years is the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, V2.1.8." Extreme Overclockers has it as a free download. Edit: this also allows you to format flash drive in FAT32 partitions larger than 32GB.
