iPod being FedExd from China.. wow

Ordered a new ipod nano (blue) this afternoon for my daughter for Christmas. I chose Apple instead of Target (I had orders in carts on both sites at the same time, with $20 less at Target) because of the engraving and I just like Apple better than Target (yes I'm a Christian). I just got the shipping note from apple. It is being fed-exd from Shenzhen China, and has been picked up by fed-ex with a delivery date of next Tuesday here in Florida. Is this customary for Apple to not even ship them to the USA first? Or is this a Christmas things-are-busy event?

My guess is, when getting custom engraving, no.

So I'll have a Chinese engraving a long Polish name for an American...

That's almost as good as buying the Chinese knockoff lithium battery for my Canon elph from a Russian guy in NYC on eBay...what a country!

Yes this is customary. My shuffle and both Macbooks I ordered were direct shipped from China and all arrived within 4 days of being shipped.

Pilots aren't quite as leery flying the Pacific as they were in the forties. :-)
