Historical find in back bedroom clean out

Bought a mattress set for a guest room and while my better half was moving boxes came across an oldie goldie. Apple dot matrix printer that matches this ebay link below. I would donate it to an Apple museum but don't think I could afford the shipping.

I still remember it's little dot matrix tune. Then again, I still remember paper tape driven teletype machines. So it goes.

I wanted one of those in college!

I used to print my papers from the original ImageWriter in the chemistry lab, since my college's computer lab was infested with ImageWriter II printers that, in my experience, misfed the paper much more often.

That brings back some memories - pretty much every single person in my dorm who had an Apple //e had one of these to go along with it

I had (nearly) one of those. It was the Prowriter that Apple rebadged and used for their printer. It was made by some third party (C. Itoh). I bought it from the Call -A.P.P.L.E. folks and even got a tee-shirt with the image of Ace on it. Great printer though not as good as the Imagewriter II.

Had to buy an Imagewriter II at the end of college to be eligible for the school discount on my Mac. (school requirement)

Didn't use it much until after marriage when my wife (teacher) used it all the time.

I hated the noise.

So I bought the Deskwriter (Mac version of the Deskjet) inkjet printer just as soon as it came out.

There was an episode of Malcom in the Middle where the parents cleaned out a closet and discovered that it was a bathroom. They hid it so the kids wouldn't know about it.

My High School was still using those ImageWriters, and the //e's in the writing labs all the way up until early 1998.
