What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the Dunlop Winter Sport M3

I need 225/60/R16

I had something similar to the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 and they were great. I also had something similar to the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 and those were pretty good too. I like the idea of being soft all the way through. These will go on a set of wheels just for winter. Most of the time they will be used on ice, but snow wont be too uncommon.

I would go for more of a tank tread myself, but that's not always an option, especially on public roads...

Put these on my Jetta TDI all I can say is awesome!!

Consumer reports just did a test on winter tires. They did not rate them as high as I thought they would be. I bought them last year and they were on the top of the list for a test done in Europe.

I can stop on my snow covered steep driveway and start again. 4X4 Expedition spins hard to start moving again. Any other front wheel drive spins their way and might make it but don't dare try and stop. Backing down is bad, engine wants to lead the way, car will spin around as soon as you touch the brake while backing downhill.

Those are the EXACT tires I put on my 2004 Pontiac GTO 3 weeks ago. We've had 3 decent snows since then, 6", 4", and 3" - and the car goes through it like nothing. Amazing! Nearly 400HP in a rear wheel drive car - and I drive through snow better than my front wheel drive cars did.

Money WELL spent. ($600, installed).

Good Luck!

All I can say is that on my tiny Miata, snow tires are THE BEST. Granted, the Miata is weighted 50/50 front/rear, so it inherently handles a bit better in the snow, but the tires give it the grip it needs when necessary. The only problem is snow drifts...the car is too low.
