I can't keep going around in circles to go thru the alphabet. THere must be a shortcut to get thru the list quicker?

Ummmm, organize your iPod by artist, and do playlists?

Is there some other issue that's going on?

What's the difference between reality and fiction? Fiction has to make some sense.

Take some time and build some playlists. This is a simple thing to do and makes playing the songs very easy and fast. When in the Library proper I just use "shuffle" all the time and love that surprise of the next song. YMMV

Smart playlists for recently added items

Smart Playlists for artists or members of a band (I have one for Steely Dan & Donald Fagen, also for The Beatles and Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr).

Still, I agree. There should be an easier way. The iPod's interface ain't the panacea it's touted as being.

I have lots of playlists, and that helps. But even scrolling by artist can be difficult since I have lots (must be hundreds) of artists. My problem with scrolling by song is that it only lists the song title, and since the days of albums (when we actually looked at the album cover while we listened and learned the song names), I usually have no idea what most songs are named.

So it would be nice when scrolling the library, or a playlist even, if it displayed the artist and the song in list for me.

I do have many playlists, and some smart ones. Two thoughts. I will build more and delete others.

I can see the smart playlists don't transfer to the iPod, right? thats the way I am remembering it right now.

And how would one use the idea above of "smart playlist" "for recently played items", sounds interesting.

And yes, in Library, sounds like Shuffle would be the only ticket, it is nice to hear something I didnt search, and say...."thats nice... I didn't remember having that"
