What's gonna happen to the dealmac project?

Just kinda curious. It brings up a pretty big question.

Should we start the MRP? Does the mini iLeader still want to be on vacations everyweek?

Excellent question chip.

I guess I should talk to pr0n and see what his thoughts/feelings are about it continuing.

Right now mini is chillin up north with racer-x.
He has a DMP in the can but it has not been posted up to the web due to the forum fiasco over there...

I think it has run its course. Mini is somewhere, but no one seems to know where.

Maybe we can do a mini recap and show all his travels?

That way any new forum members here will know about the project and those of us who hosted him and never had a real post about our visit (ahem, ahem) will get a 2nd chance at glory...

A GOOD idea is STILL a good idea . . .

It wasn't the FORUM that came up with the idea . . . it was an INDIVIDUAL member (or two).

After all, Apple didn't INVENT the MP3 music player. They just made it awesome!!!!!!!

Why not us . . . ? ? ? ?

WOW, Impressive Homer . . .

Think Different!

Or not . . .

THAT individual belongs to more than one forum. How 'bout you?

Assuming you have EVER had a good idea, would you NEVER use it again?????????

Just wonderin'.

DEPENDS on whether that idea was WORTHY of using again or NOT!!!!!!!

In this case, I think the idea of "sending a mini Steve Jobs around and taking pictures of him in interesting places" has RUN its COURSE!?!?!?!!?

If it were my IDEA, I would not use it AGAIN, as I don't think it FITS another FORUM. Part of the genius of the IDEA was the forum after which it was NAMED.!.!.!.!.!

It had its TIME. I'm sure the intelligent PEOPLE who are migrating to the forum can come up with SOMETHING better.?.?.?.? Or if not better, just something "different."

Why don't YOU start, WHiiP??.,!?.,!?.,!?

Just wondering.

I DON'T feel the need to start something different.

Since YOU don't want it to continue, why don't YOU create something different???????

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

Well, my opinion (and that only) is that it was of the other forum as well and should stay associated with it. It was kind of a neat idea in theory and it is not as if DM no longer exists. If some of the people that are still interested are participating in both forums then that's not a problem but it shouldn't be associated with this forum. I think to some degree if it has some baggage associated with it and like I said, it should stay a part of the other forum (which I currently still frequent to a lesser degree). Again, I'm just stating my observation and am not trying to dictate what should happen.

If you call it 2.0 then you realize people are gonna wait until everyone else has had it and done so without issue. Then they're all gonna b!tch that it messed something up and want 2.1 released.

I got an idea.

We get a big crate and punch some holes in the top.

Make a list of everybody, and ship Larry from place to place with a bottle of spring water and one change of clothes. They get to feed and shelter him for a week and take him to notable local places and get photos to share.

Come Friday, Larry goes back in the box with a two foot hoagie and a full water bottle, and gets shipped to the next lucky participant.

And just remember, like before: no insertion!

Mini is welcomed here. All are welcome here. But the DMP is just that.

Remember when the Baltimore Colt sneaked out of town.

This forum is already having some slanted PR from across the way. Ripping off the the Mini Leader would be ( fill in the Blank ). It would be wrong!

Bernie nailed it. It wouldn't be good for us, and it surely wouldn't be good for OWC Larry. First they steal our forum, and then they steal the DMP.

Hasn't the DMP just about lost steam anyway? Why tick people off for that? Not worth it.

"STEAL"?????? Where do you get STEAL from?????? Was DealMac the first and only forum on the 'net doing Mac?????????? I don't think so.

Competition is where it's at, and the other forum is fading fast because of how they CHOSE to handle many decisions. There is plenty of room for another forum, especially one that kicks A$$!!

DealRat.
Go Broke Feeding Cats.

(you see... each member would have to have a cat to eat it, then we'd buy a NEW rat and ship it on to the next person. Stephanie would get an exemption so we could have pictures of a snake eating the rat)

Do we have to move fast on this? The DMP has been on super-slow-barely-happening mode for months now. I say let things settle down and worry about the DMP or any DMP alternatives at a later time.

And you all did see him talk about 2.0, right? He's not joking, and it is already in the works...

Actually, I think most were aware that he was the driving force behind it. maybe I give too much credit? I got the impression that it's not the priority for most at this point so when he gets to it, he gets to it.

I know it's much too far into this thread, and much too late, but when I said "First they steal our forum and now the steal the DMP." I meant that as what the DM faithful would say, not what I would say. I, for one, was not stolen, but ready to leave. Sorry for the confusion.
