Maybe Apple released the info as a way to kickstart iTunes sales again.

That reminds me. I sold my previous computer which was one of the "authorized" ones on my account. I reinstalled Tiger on the drive before I sold it. Can I get that authorization back? If so, how?

once 5 authorizations have been used, you will have a 'reset' button option in your apple account. it will reset all 5 authorizations and can only be used once per year.

i just overwrote one of mine last weekend, too. don't feel bad :-)

When you hit 5 authorized computers you're given the option to remove the authorization from all of them. Then you can add them back 1 at a time.

Thanks, evilrobot and ztirffritz. I think I still have one authorization left, so not time to panic yet. Good to know for 2010 which is likely the next time I buy a new computer.
