One of my favorite holidays.... a chance to break out one of the drinking themed aloha shirts. Or perhaps a restaurant themed aloha shirt. Or maybe a hot sauce themed aloha shirt. It's these tough decisions that help make it such a wonderful follow up to Star Wars Day.

Bigger holiday here than in Mexico. across the border it is a few fireworks or a minor parade, that's about it. All to celebrate the Mexican insurgents defeating a French force in a single battle (and subsequently getting defeated by the French a few months later).

Here it s beer, American style tacos, and more beer.

About 15 years ago, we were in Puerto Vallarta on May 5th. I asked where to good party spots were, and I got a LOT of blank stares, and confusion.

Just an American excuse to party, and have specials at "mexican" restaurants.

I wonder how many Mexican restaurants looked at the pretend Irish puking green beer all over the streets and said "we want a part of that."
