A growing number of foods commonly found in kitchens across America have tested positive for glyphosate, the herbicide that is the main ingredient in the popular consumer pesticide Roundup, which is widely used in agriculture. But few brands on that list are as startling as the latest: Ben & Jerry’s, the Vermont ice cream company known for its family-friendly image and environmental advocacy.

The Organic Consumers Association announced Tuesday that it found traces of glyphosate in 10 of 11 samples of the company’s ice creams — although at levels far below the ceiling set by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Well, I know there are big B&J fans here. Just sounds like they're being transparent as the ingredient is a very, very small amount and if they didn't acknowledge it, somewhere down the road it would surface and B&J would be in all sorts of deep doo-doo with their fan base.

.....noticed the other day that B&J has no 'normal' flavors......all the flavors are mish-mash with a large list of ingredients in the name.....sometimes you just want vanilla, or pistachio, or a flavor with only one extra ingredients like vanilla with chocolate covered almonds.....but all their flavors have everything but the kitchen sink thrown in......too complicated......

........local supermarkets don't carry them....only the mish-mash flavors.... and these are large chain stores......the only relatively simple flavor they have is Cherry Garcia [ cherries and chocolate ] and even then, not always in stock......

Supermarkets around here carry their entire lineup, but the general merchandise stores (like Target) tend to stick with "safer" flavors like the ones above.

Sometimes it's even true.

No loss for me, B&J ice cream is too sweet for me and I *love* sweet things. It's weird how I can't handle the sweetness of it as I really don't have that problem with any other foods.

Only the foolhardy would buy into the image, knowing it's been a Unilever brand for some time.

I like the stuff, but am under no illusions that it's anything but another mass market ice cream, using the company's origins as its marketing shtick.

The same Unilever turned Breyers into nasty "frozen dairy dessert."

There are plenty of small small dairies that make real, wholesome ice cream, but it comes at a price.
