"Anheuser-Busch sent over 500,000 cans of drinking water to people affected by Hurricane Harvey. "Throughout the year, we periodically pause beer production at our Cartersville, Georgia, brewery to produce emergency canned drinking water so we are ready to help out communities across the country in times of crisis. Putting our production and logistics strengths to work by providing safe, clean drinking water is the best way we can help in these situations," said Sarah Schilling, brewmaster of Anheuser-Busch's Cartersville brewery."

The nice thing is that this sort of crap is ILLEGAL in Texas ! So hopefully the offenders (and there are many) get badly busted. ($250K per incident fine if it affects anyone over 65).

Does it apply to USB cables too.

Good thing they didn't put the single price on a case, people would be insisting they honor the pricing error for days.

Bottles of water (12 ounce) are often 10¢ each ( no cases and sometimes a 10/per limit ) at PriceRite and some of the chain pharmacies around here. I grab a few as they come in handy sometimes on outings.

"Not as an excuse but as an explanation, we don’t typically sell cases of water. The mistake was made when employees priced a case of water using the single-bottle price for each bottle in the case,” the spokesperson from Best Buy concluded."

I actually buy that. $42/case for bottled water is not going to make any meaningful impact on the store's bottom line, let alone the chain.

seems like an honest mistake based on the explanation. $42 cases of water aren't going to move BBs bottom line. some manager likely told a kid to sell it by the case, and kid does exactly that at single unit price x 24. unfortunate timing.

and nice parallel between water and bud light smiling smiley

As much as I enjoyed raz's Bud Light comment, GGD's USB cable reference deserves some love. Made me laugh.

And yes, I actually paid $24.95 for A USB cable at BB in the late 90s, and I still irks me.

… but it's still OK to sell a bottle of water for $2.00 during this time … SMH

Pest Buy is just that… If they hire stupid employees, and their management isn't any smarter … glad to see they got nailed for it.

Yep, it isn't price gouging. That is their normal price for water if you are dumb enough to buy a case worth.
