just a heads up on flights to Europe

I'm seeing some stupid cheap flights now, as low as $436 at one point (that one was last week and seems to be gone). No immediate plans to go, but I happened to type in my routes for sheets and giggles, and couldn't believe there were some this cheap.

The summer vacation rush is over.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Wow airlines had a $269 R/T London or Paris fare a week ago. I almost bit.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

No doubt, but these fares are about half of the post summer fares I saw just a few years ago.

WOW air as low as $320 (BOS ->KEF->LON, November) but you have to add carry on and checked bag fees back in

sub-$500 fares off-peak are likely the WOW/Norway Air competition and somewhat lower fuel prices

Norway Air is as low as $306 plus $90 for one checked bag PP , selected seat and meals
still - sub$500 is pretty good

I like to recommend getting on the Flight Deal mailing list. Various places in Western Europe have been below $500 virtually every day this summer, and sometimes below $400 on the pay-for-luggage carriers. Scott's Cheap Flights is also a good list to get on. Only one deal a day, but it's often a great one.

Best to fly to EU hubs ( London, FRA, CDG, CPH, AMS ) and then find flight on EU short haul carriers.

I like the Iceland Air deals. Stopover of up to a week in Iceland on the way to/from London at no extra charge.

Try through Istanbul to Nairobi, then to Kilimanjaro or Arusha.
