I've been procrastinating about this, but the deal was just too good to pass up.

With my Note 5 as a trade in, my monthly cost for the phone will drop from $40 to $20! I didn't see how I could go wrong.

This should be very interesting. What I like about this phone is that there is a dock that allows the use of a monitor, keyboard and mouse along with a direct wired connection to my router. BTW, the phone can use a 256GB micro USB card and, I believe that Samsung is offering one as a promotion with the Note 8 purchase.

I guess that I will be able to set Mavis up with my Mini.

It's so amazing, how powerful these cellphones have become.

I will post about my experience with this setup, once I know more about it.

I received a promotional email upgrade offer from Verizon saying that I would get a 50% discount on the cost of the Note 8 when I traded in my Note 5, if it is in good condition. I figured, "how could I go wrong?" My monthly payment goes down $20 after the trade-in.

Talk about having your cake, etc.! They even waived the $30 fee.

Does that answer your questions, space-time?

Not really, I am still having GI problems (sometimes painful) and for safety sake I am wearing Depends type underwear. My doctor says that it's likely that my colon will twist again, sooner or later. I'm on a "soft diet" to lessen the risk, but I know that if I need surgery to remove a section of my colon, it is likely that I wouldn't survive. Between my heart failure and my single working kidney that is close to needing dialysis, I don't see how I could survive.

OTOH, I am happy to be alive after my hospital stay, so I will take it one day at a time.

I definitely make the most out of the support that I get from my forum friends.

I just would love it if we could put another "luncheon" together. I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of my buddies at the last get together.

I am constantly amazed by how wonderful our forum is for all of us. I love you guys!

Your two response choices are not mutually exclusive.
I use my "smart" phone for many, many things (far more than I use my computer), BUT, I can't do everything I need with it.

How many months/payments of $40 you had due on the Note 5, and how many new $20 payments did you commit now? In other words was your Note 5 almost paid off? Then your monthly phone payment would have been $0 very soon. Verizon, ATT and the gang always win one way or another.

You should have your Dr do a short written synop of your current medical condition, and keep it in the car. Then drive as fast as you can every time the road is wide open and dry. If you get pulled over just hand the cop the Dr statement and say life begins at 140 mph.

This is a long review but if you really want to know what the Note 8 is capable of doing you need to watch it.

It's my boy Flossy Carter with what he calls "The REAL Review." Now, 'note' that he's gonna talk about what he doesn't like first. He does that in all of his reviews.

You're right. He even admits he's full of poop (and other colonic ittitants to fill up his Depends).startrek61

New tech seems to put a spring in his step, so clearly if he keeps getting new tech toys he may live forever. Almost ditto for getting a good deal, so as long as there are holidays, and holiday sales to go with, our Gene will be immortal... well, until global warming destroys the planet. I know a few other Note 8 phans... seems to be a popular phablet.

This is going to sound rude or stupid but it's not meant that way. With dogs, it is advised to feed them more often than once a day because an empty stomach encourages "bloat" (twisted stomach). Is there any chance that more frequent, smaller meals would work the same way for a human colon?

Well, hell, I hope not - I typically eat only one meal a day.

It is what it is.

Not rude or stupid!

I appreciate your suggestion, but I don't know if that would make a difference.

Similar to N-OS X-tasy, I typically have eggs, toast and a latte for breakfast and nothing until dinner. I will have to ask my GI specialist about this. The one thing I have to do is to take MiraLax at least twice a day, if not more as necessary. Yesterday, I only took it once and I woke up frightened because I felt the same type of bloating and pain that put me in the hospital. I did "go," but I still don't feel right. This is very frightening for me because the doctor told me that there is no way to guarantee that my colon won't twist again, regardless of what I do. If that happens and the procedure that worked previously in the hospital doesn't work again, the only option is to remove a section of my colon. This is a very risky surgery and with my failing heart and kidney it is unlikely that I could survive it.

In that case, I will have to post a list of my "stuff" and let you all call for dibs.

No sh#t, I am a bit discouraged, but what the heck, I will enjoy my new Note 8 and whatever else I can manage.

Come on Gene, blame someone or something else. No one does personal responsibility for anything any more donchaknow.

They are making you wait until the 25th ?

But doesn't that make you feel unimportant ? LOL

You know, that snacking healthy stuff many times a day must work. That's the way most Japanese we know eat. And they live longer than any other people. Small breakfast, none of this cereal mess, a real breakfast, snack before lunch, good lunch, snack again several more times, light supper. Oh me, I'm making myself want a snack! But, I just pigged out American style for supper. Gotta stop this American way of eating...

bill, what really makes me feel unimportant is that I have been waiting for a new full face mask for my BIPAP machine and they have made me wait a long time to send my replacement. The mask that I have been using for years suddenly became torture to wear, so my doctor put in a prescription for a new design. I was told that they couldn't send the replacement until the 19th because of Medicare. I still haven't received the new mask so I called the supplier and it turns out that they just sent a mask to me, but it was the wrong one! Now, I have to wait for for that package to get here and put a label they sent me on it and ship it back. Then they will send the right one. How bad is that?

In the meantime, I am getting 3 hours of sleep on average and that's without being able to use my BIPAP. I called Medicare, but they were of no help. This really sucks on top of my other issues.

Other issues! Right now I am experiencing a problem "going" even though I have been using MiraLax. I'm getting nervous because if my colon becomes blocked again, I will be a heart beat away from the end of my story.

Definitely stick with "soft" foods and definitely avoid red meat. I speak from experience, but a different problem than you have.
