What is a good all-in-one?

Don't have the real estate to set up my copier, fax and scanner so have been looking at all-in-ones. Some are "photo" printers, like HP photosmart, but don't know how good they are printing text?

What are you looking for... color, B+W, laser, ink jet. What will you be using the AIO for?

I've used a few Brother AIOs, all B+W laser. They work great day after day. I use the scanning, printing and light copying daily (don't fax any more, we've got a fax machine for that).

Don't know squat about color though.... For color stuff, I've got an Epson at home... great for making photos.

Brother AIO great for laser.

Canon AIO great for color (incl photo printing; I just did some great Christmas cards on my Canon).

Look a few threads down; high recommendation of the Canon PIXMA MP530 (with a link): [forums.macresource.com]

I've had bad luck with low-end Brother AIO. Very good results with HP AIO

I have this one:

and quite like it. $16, my refurb was indistinguishable from new.

Its shortcoming is its scanning; OK for casual color use, fine for B&W, but definitely not production-quality.

I meant to type, $160, not $16.

This is a black-and-white laser--with a photoprinting drugstore at every corner, I have zero need for inkjet printing henceforth and forevermore.
