Just a reminder that if you regularly back up your computer, you could (conceivably) throw away an Incredibly Important Folder in a moment of Stupidity, but it wouldn't be a problem.

There are two kinds of computer users in this world...ones that have lost data and those that have not yet lost data.

Not a problem for me... TimeMachine takes care of it.

Don't believe me? Look it up.

It's was one of the coolest features of OS 10.5 when it was released way back in 2007.

There were a few bugs with restoring things back to the "present" though.

Hmm.. must of clicked on something wrong here.

I have an external 300gb that sits under the desk. Every morning at 3AM, Data Backup faithfully does an incremental backup of ~/Documents, ~/Library as well as our digital pictures.

I upload about half of our pictures to Smugmug, which serves as an off-site backup.

I'm the first kind of computer user - one that has lost data.

First question: Yes.

Second question: No, but only because those were on a CD, not on the hard disk.

I dumped the iPhoto Library.

How on earth did you do that? Only to make sure I don't do the same thing one day!

I'm re-doing some .Mac web site stuff. Thought I was on the iDisk, when I was really in my Home folder. You have to be a little tired to pull this off.

Ah. I thought this was about Phoebe, in a Friends episode.

I'm inferring from GtDS's first post that because he *did* back up, it wasn't a problem.

I love TIme Machine and Time Machine (the one with Rod and Yvette).

The computer folks gave me a new pc at work the week before Christmas. I backed up everything to my personal external drive (but that's automatic) and to my space on the server. Critical data files also went to my 2gig thumb drive and to myself at Google. All went well-but I bet it wouldn't have without the 4th backup!
