Best Way to Clean Fingerprints from Flat-Screen TV Screens

Despite keeping our 55" Samsung TV covered when not running, and despite a fence to keep the baby away, the grandkids manage to get fingerprints all over it.

Dry microfiber cloth didn't work. Nor did damp one. The TV repair guy said to use isopropyl alcohol. Didn't work. Some articles say a 50-50 mixture of water and white vinegar will do the trick. Helps some, but still smears.

What's the answer?

Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth slightly moistened with a solution of mild soap and warm water.

I've always taken that to mean a weak solution of dishwashing solution such as Dawn or Palmolive.

There's always the white side of an orange peel too.

There is a chance the goo on their hands has reacted with the coating when the screen was warm. If this is the case, you will only get it off by removing the coating.

The recommendation of the damp cloth is to keep you from spraying cleaners directly on the TV and getting drips into the circuits. I would try one of the higher percentage of isopropyl alcohols if you have one handy (75% to 92%). Soak a corner of a microfiber cloth, add couple of drops of dish soap, then wring it out so it won't drip.

Will Not Leave Streaks On Your Screens" on it's Amazon description. For phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs.

I still have maybe half a bottle of ancient iKlear Apple Polish. Will this work? I'm afraid to try it without knowledgeable advice.

Do you mean to add dish soap to the alcohol-soaked cloth?

same here. Lots of cat nose prints and cheek smears. On a positive note, Ash has good taste in cinema.

I would recommend checking the user's manual for your set. Some TVs have special screen coatings that have very specific cleaning requirements.

It is what it is.

.....they sell clothes made especially for cleaning TV screens.....they look like those clorox wipes but they charge more for it because it is 'allegedly' just for TV screens......
