So I've got this Apple CPU, a G4 dual 800Mhz, that won't run on my DA tower--the L3 cache doesn't show up, and only one CPU shows up.

I'm wondering if I were to run the Gigadesigns firmware at :

whether that would enable my tower to run the Apple CPU.

And if I do install the Gigafast firmware, will that me prevent me from reinstalling the 867MHz CPU that I currently have running in there?

Short answer - no - it won't.

that firmware enables 7447 processor compatibility... has nothing to do with the 7455s you've got.

Did you go to XLR8 your Mac and see if any soldering needs to be for using a QS processor in a DA?

also - are you sure the Dual 800 processor is good?

Thanks for the reply. I've been usimng a QS 867Mhz with no problem at all, so I assumed a QS dual 800Mhz would work. I looked at XLRyourjmac, but not very closely. I'll look again.

I'm pretty sure the QS needs another 12V on one of the screws that the digital audio doesn't have.
