2018 Apple roadmap

This is an interesting article.

Apple DOES have a lot of updated products likely for 2018. From the iPhone X2 series, Airpods2, next gen AppleTV, Mac Pro (hopefully), and maybe even an updated Apple Watch with a new form factor.

Where did you hear about a version of the Apple TV newer than the 5th Gen 4K model? They just updated it last September.

Some AppleTV update trademarks have been filed suggesting gaming capabilities.

My guess is it will only involve a firmware update. The A11 doesn't show a big performance bump over the A10X (possibly Apple has idled the extra CPU cores to improve mobile battery life?). Maybe if the iPhone 8S/XS (X-SE?) gets a new CPU, they will update the Apple TV to ensure hardware consistency.

Death of the Mini...

The Mini is dead to me anyway. I do still have 3 of them, all 2011 and 2012 models, but I have 6 NUCs— 2014-2017 models. I detect a trend.

"The Intel® NUC is a powerful 4x4-inch mini PC with entertainment, gaming, and productivity features, including a customizable board that is ready to accept the memory, storage, and operating systems that you want."

The NUC units are also sometimes hackintosh-able, so you can build a "better" Mini than Apple does, for a significant $$ savings.

Tru dat.

These "predictions" dont really seem any more insightful than what my 13 year old could guess at...
