Mohammad Ali. I'm shocked

Just watching the coin toss of the Orange Bowl and Ali was honorary captain for Louisville.

I knew Ali was sick with Parkinson's but his physical condition was just shocking. The man is a walking corpse. It is heartbreaking to see him like that and know that his mind is still sharp as a tack.

"Those who cannot accept the past are condemned to revise it." -- Geo. Mathias

The German word for contraceptive is “Schwangerschaftsverhütungsmittel”. By the time you finished saying that, it’s too late

Seems to run in both sides of my family. I do worry about it. My Uncle (Mom's brother) had it; symptoms appeared when he was in his early 60's. My Dad has it. He was diagnosed last year. He is 74. My Mom is showing signs of it. She is 72. I don't wish it on any one.

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher
(1828-1910)

remember the Olympics when a FRAIL Parkinson's stricken Ali Climbed the steps with out any help to light the Olympic flame? Watching that on T.V. was one of the Highlights of my life,Never had I been so proud to be an American! Latter I read an interview with him where he does not blame his god but declared Parkinson's was a gift from the GOD of his Choice to refocus his life in a positive spiritual way! Mohammad Ali The last true Champ, the last true American Hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless him

Mr. T said that cancer was his gift from God, too.

seeing Katrina victims humbled him & made him ditch all his gaudy jewelry.

If these are God's idea of gifts, I don't want to be on his Christmas list.

Yeah, good thing Santa isn't God. A lot of kids would be dissapointed when they got MS instead of a Wii.

We could get into a no no discussion of "why bad things happen to good people" "gift from God" here very easily. I feel sorry for Ali and all that have afflictions..but...gift from God? I wonder.

Michael Fox said in an interview that the meds to control the tremors tend to zombie one out. Not the main reason, but one, of why he didn't take them to testify at senate hearings.

On God and Santa Claus
From P.J. O'Rourke's book Parliament of @#$%&

I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat.

God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle-aged mate, a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men strictly accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well-being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club.

Santa Claus is another matter. He's cute. He's nonthreatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without thought of a quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor. Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

I didn't realize that Ali had Parkinson's. I was under the impression that it was brain damage from his boxing days. Have a sharp mind in a failing body just scares the poop out of me. My wife's grandfather is 97, and he is still sharp, but is basically bedridden.

Yes, Zombie-like.

The medication is difficult to take orally. One is never "stable". The effects of the medication is like a sine wave: Tremors when it's time to take another pill, "Zombie-like" stiffness when the full dose of the pill hits your system.

The alternative is a microproccessor controlled implant for micro-miniature doses of the medication. Requires drilling holes in your head and implanting sensors and wires. I have a (now retired) business associate that has had the implant mechanism for three years.
