Anyone familiar with NUCLEATED red blood cells?

I saw my doctor yesterday and my Complete Blood Count didn't get included in the report he got from the lab. I went and had it done after I left his office. The report showed:

• NRBC 1.4 (high) /100WBC
• NRBC# 0.13 (high) 10^3/uL

According to Google, these should be zero. There were other tests that indicated anemia. He is gone until Monday. Is this important enough to contact him before my next appointment in two months?

Not a great sign. What was the bloodwork for?

Diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue, anemia, generalized pain and tiredness. There was an earlier thread about my legs being tired.

It's abnormal, but could probably wait until Monday. It could indicate any number of things. Make sure to speak to your MD.

I've had high platelets (1000) and low Mean Platelet Volume for nearly 20 years. The platelets are around 500 now. I've asked several doctors and a hematologist about it but they have no answer. I'm thinking about seeing another hematologist whether my doctor refers me or not. I always have out-of-whack white cells and anemia (iron was OK last year) but no doctor ever addresses it. The one I have in mind is also an oncologist; I would like to get to the bottom of this and country doctors are not doing it.

Probably a good idea as this can indicate something serious.

True that it's not an emergency. But it is concerning for something possibly serious going on in your bone marrow.

You haven't had a splenectomy, have you? You can get some circulating NRBC from that.

You may have seen this, but the second paragraph in the wikipedia article is pretty good (although brief).

No splenectomy. I did go to my niece, a Nurse Practioner, with what I thought might be gastroparesis, since I have diabetic neuropathy and thought the neuropathy was causing he delayed emptying of the stomach and the full feeling. I read since that the spleen can cause that feeling.

I'm seeing a hematologist/oncologist in May.
