Okay, this is silly, but apparently after dinging Apple's "ugly" notch in the iPX, Android vendors appear to have changed their minds:



...and Samsung just filed a smartphone design patent featuring...yup, a notch. Apparently, official Android "notch support" is scheduled to be included in the upcoming "Android P" update.

(PS - in fact, the "Essential PH1" (above) apparently came out with a rounded notch-like inset before the iPX. The "Wiko Wave 2" (a couple to the right of the Essential) is said to have copied that.)

Sincere flattery, I guess. The sincerest.

I think the whole Apple vs Samsung vs et al thing is ridiculous. There comes a point when who copies who is totally irrelevant, and is not productive.

I sincerely hope Apple is able to go fullscreen and notchless on the next iPhone…that'll really throw "competitors" for a loop…

Interestingly, I only know two of those phones-the iPhone and the LG. I know the names Sharp and ASUS, but didn't know they made phones! Are all these others sold here in the US?
