Really? Free Macbook Pro and Canon 30D

My Yahoo mail page has a big banner ad from Producttestpanel, claiming a free Macbook Pro (2Ghz core duo) for completing 6 promotions. But wait - there"s more! Add to the bounty a free Canon 30D if you complete the incentives by Feb 3...

This is a lot more incentive than an iPod or cheap monitor. Anyone know what "terms and conditions" apply, and exactly what do you have to buy for this, assuming it's at all legit?

Well, you have to complete to the issuers satisfaction certain purchases I think. Read the fine print....also they get your address and I be the spam will increase like crazy.

They could always find a loophole that you didn't complete the terms. Nothing is free. If it sounds too good to be true...it is!

My wife did one of these to get a TREK road bike about 2 years ago. She completed everything, and faxed everything in, and called to confirm, and kept track.....and they said the bike wasn't available, so they sent her a VISA gift card for the street price of the bike (as opposed to MSRP). They can work.

She found a number of things that were of little real cost, and she found enough offers that she didn't need to give anyone info for a CC application, or anything like that. Magazine subscription to TV Guide, inkjet carts, an on-line pet supply store and Columbia House DVD. After what she spent, she still cleared over $500, and we ended up with some ink carts, DVDs and some pet supplies we would have purchased at some point anyway.

Those 2 add up to ~$2500 street price. Hard to believe they're giving them away too easily...

It's not easy, but it's likely legit. I have 2 friends who both got free laptops from similar promotions. The steps required are kind of a pain, but they were both in the market for the items you are required to purchase/participate in anyway. It can work. Just use a throw away email addy.

Ok, here's what's required. In addition to the easy stuff- the free offers that require a few dollars of postage, there's the last 3 big ones, of which you must complete 2 for your free gifts:
Video email business, Minimum investment of $999.95 required.
Rooms to Go Kids, $1,500 Minimum Purchase Required.
Rail Europe, Requires purchase of package for 2 (min. price $899/person)

So now you'd be in over $2500... and guess what? The Macbook Pro is nowhere to be seen on the site, it's been demoted to an HP Pavillion laptop. No mention anywhere of the DSLR, either.

Yeah, Yahoo has some classy advertisers at the top of their pages. Anyone know where to write Yahoo to complain about their false advertising?
