Craftsman 1/4-inch ratchet drive of recent vintage.
Looks VG but the mech is wonky.

Do they still do free exchanges @ Sears B&M?

wife went to the mall and said the Sear was virtually empty, shelves were empty, it probably won't last 2 weeks.

so hurry up. You may get a Made in China, if they do it at all. I would be tempted to lube and fix it instead, especially if this a made in USA unit.

I like that series. I believe they are fine toothed ratchet mechanism. I have the 1/2" version and have abused it for 2 decades or so.

Seems to me, with ratchets they give you a rebuild kit now.

Yes they do but not at a closing Sears. And not at any other store that sells Craftsman. Which is crap.

That's because Sears no longer owns the Craftsman brand, but have rights to put out their own tools with that brand for another few years. Craftsman tools bought elsewhere are not made by the same companies as those in a Sears, so they are not a party to the warranty.

As it was, the last time I swapped a defective tool was about 10 years ago, and they were already doing the refurb replacement bit then. Store associate went and got one, it did not work right. Nor di any of the others of that tool in the bin of refurbed tools. Finally he ended up getting a new one off the sales rack.
