Force open a Macbook

I bought a used Macbook a while back. I just got around to using it.

I can't remember the password and can't contact the old owner.

Is there a way to open this thing?

I don't care if it wipes the HD, I was going to do that anyway.

Yes, I feel stupid.

Boot to Recovery (Command+R).

Then either use the Reset Password utility (Terminal: resetpassword), or else use the Disk Utility to erase the drive and the installer to restore a clean OS.

And hope they did not set a password on the EFI that would prevent you from doing those.
