Frys.com has this one, must be a price drop since Hitachi announced the 1TB drives today.

750 GB . . .
does it come with a book about what one could possibly need to put on such a big drive?

For those dvd archivists among us, I suppose.
My music collection hasn't hit 60GB yet, but I am getting close.

Video.

It wouldn't be that hard to fillup with video work.

I think I've seen it a little cheaper before.

The new 1TB Hitatichi drive is supposed to be $400 when it hits shelves. I think that's VERY competitive.

I find the 1TB hitachi to be VERY competitive.

The WD drives I usually get for work(500GB) come out to be $230ish or something.

Also, the savings in SATA cables and less screws...

I can't wait till I can order some.

Just because it has two clutches, shifts faster, uses a torque converter or has near-infinite gear ratios, requires less driver intervention and is more efficient doesn't make it better in my opinion.

Try the Maxtor MaxLine ChipSter, $149, and a much better than the WD's. Bought six of them for a client last week, at Outpost, $139 each, outright.
Haven't seen the WD's for more than $179 since before October.

You've paid how much for screws?

It's not how much I've paid for them, it's their number.

As far as the maxtors, I know we picked up quite a few a couple of weeks ago, but the problem is they are incompatable with some of our hardware.

I use big disks like that for rotating backups with Retrospect. 750GB would be pretty nice; I could be a bit less choosy with my scripts.

Which Hardware?
If you would have said WD I would agree.

I just ordered one of the Maxtor 500s from Larry. Can't see paying double to gain another 250 GB. But it will be near full once I move my itunes library and photo library on it - hoping to still have 100 GB free space. A 750 would be nice. May be time to delete some of the original files from iPhoto.
