I wonder if the people trapped didn’t evacuate when told to get it? The background hasn’t been reported but bI bet this is what happened.

Another story of a man trapped by lava.

Warning: don’t toast marshmallows over lava! Bad chemicals and taste. Can’t imagine getting that close in the first place. Crazy people.

People also try to beat the odds in casinos.

But at the casino when you lose, you don’t roast in your own juices.

We rescue people from Floods, but few first responders will be ok if they also fall in Lava. This is far worse than trying to cross rushing water! The story did not state how he was rescued, but to ask someone to risk immolation is the height of selfishness/stupidity.

If you ignore a mandatory evacuation order and then need to be rescued - you should foot the full bill for the cost.

Key word is ignore - as in willfully decide not to even attempt to leave despite being ordered to several times.

Hah! Just yeasterday I was reading an old Rolling Stone review of a B-52’s concert dated early October 1980, just a month prior to the concert you linked to. Watching this video is like watching the RS reviewer’s words come to life!

It is what it is.

We're enjoying great weather here on Kauai (opposite end of the island chain). As long as the trades keep blowing we won't be affected by the VOG (volcanic emisions) from the Big Island. We have our own issues with the flooding/landslides that occurred on the North Shore (50 inches of rain in 24 hours) in mid April.
