Let go my Ego! (just joined the club)

My Toro push mower died recently, took it in the shop - at least $350 to repair.

Did a little digging, and I just joined Club Ego!

The deciding factor was learning they make an electric snow blower too - something that was on the list to replace this year.

We also talked to our neighbors, two have Egos and are very happy. One also has an Ego trimmer.

I'm looking forward to what should be a low maintenance mower residential life.

It's gonna cost you though -

You will need to have a farewell party for your gas and oil cans now. Maybe even some grief counseling as you abandon them after all these years of faithful service.

Also you will need a gym membership because you will not get all the exercise that hauling around gas powered equipment required.

I recently bought an EGo self propelled mower (56V, 7.5 Ah battery). The area I mow is quite steep and is about 250' long. I was very pleased with the way it handled the task. It's obviously lighter than my old gas mower and much quieter. Consequently I was much less fatigued when I was finished mowing than with my gas mower.

It used about 2/3 of the battery charge to complete the job and recharged in 45 minutes. Replacement batteries are expensive and an unknown right now is the actual battery life. If it is reasonably long then I believe I have a real winner.

How is the mulching? Any machine that can't do that is off my list.

FYI:
All Ego batteries are compatible with all Ego tools and all Ego chargers.
Lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower, trimmer, edger, etc., all swappable. The 7.5Ah battery from the mower will be pretty heavy on the Ego leaf blower — but it's an option. On the flip side, the 2.0Ah battery may last just a few minutes on the mower, but it may be just enough to finish off the devil strip.

So now that you have the mower with the batteries. If you have the Popeye forearms for it. You can just buy the Ego "tool only" products to save money if you wish.

If you have the old style gas cans with a normal spout, they are quite desirable for resale.

Relando,

I used the mulching option but didn't pay much attention to how well it did. I was mainly interested the first time in how well it handled the hill and whether the battery was sufficient to complete the whole job. Excellent on both accounts.

I do recall that I didn't see much in the way of loose clippings after I was finished. I definitely remember more "chopping" action when I passed over a bunch of dead leaves from our magnolia tree. Next time I will be more observant about the mulching. Right now we are getting a lot of rain so it will be awhile before it dries up enough to try again. Will report back.

Thanks Mindmeld. Eagerly awaiting. My Sears mover is almost 15 years old and going....not as well as I'd like. I may be in the market this year or next

I have had the push mower since May of 2014. Love it and have since added the string trimmer, hedge shears, small blower (not backpack) and 14" chainsaw. Only gas powered equipment I have now is my pressure washer. I went with the full package on all of them so that I have plenty of batteries to swap around. My mower uses the 5.0ah battery and has no problem getting through my whole yard. I would recommend these tools to anybody.

Just finished my inaugural mowing with very long grass. Far better mulching than my Toro it replaced.

So far, it’s a winner. I’ll be replacing the snowblower for sure and likely get a chainsaw.
