Yep. This is a very easy firmware upgrade, and it opens the pathway to more contemporary MacOS versions like High Sierra - been running as a 5,1 for years.

This. And I even upgraded the RAM as well as put in new processors. For all intents and purposes, my 4,1machine is now a 5,1 in firmware and hardware.
