MoviePass fail

Might be time to cash in my chips.

The only theater in our area with an actual selection of movies is the one offering e-ticketing. Nice theater, but a half hour drive, on a good day. The other dozen or so offer a range of 0-1 movies available.

Stock hovering around 5¢, and sinking a little more each day. They clearly haven’t rubiked the cube yet. Bleh.

agree smiley

The three nearby theaters we had been using MoviePass for now offer ZERO movies via MoviePass.

"There are no more screenings at this theater today"

And this is what it has said for all three theaters, all day, every day for the past two weeks or so.

MoviePass is no longer of any value to us.

Robinhood has announced that it would no longer allow customers to buy the stock. This standard practice for the trading company which suspends purchases of stocks consistantly below 10¢/share. Uses may still hold or sell their shares.

I may be an optimist but I think things will get back to normal (and useable again) by the end of September. All of the monthly accounts will be converted to the 3 per month plan at that time and the cash bleed should be under control by then. I have an annual plan so i’m hoping ..,

Down to ~3.7¢ in after hours trading, Tuesday 8/14/18. I’m guessing on the churn regarding users having their membership cancellations (apparently) unilaterally reversed by moviepass, and some of those experiencing “technical errors” when they try to cancel again.

There is now a class-action suit by investors against the parent company. The suit alleges investors were mislead regarding the business plan and available finances.

In other words, our all-encompassing sense of entitlement now extends to investing in the stock market, where risk HAS ALWAYS BEEN the primary overriding factor. Excelsior!
