iPhone power adapters/cables

Just checked what comes in the box with the new iPhone Xs on Apple's web site and they still ship with the crappy power adapter and usb cable.

A few weeks ago, I bought the now discontinued 29W usb-c power adapter at Walmart for $11 (since Apple discontinued these for the 30W version) so I can fast charge my iPhone X. (I had Best Buy price match the Walmart online price of $15.48 for the Lightning to USB-C cable)

For those who want to fast charge, Walmart might still have these on clearance. I had to ask an associate and they had a drawer full of them when I bought it. Check Brickseek.com...

If I had an 8 or X, I'd never buy another cable. $13. [www.amazon.com]

That's fine.

If you never sync with your Mac.

Well, I can sync via WiFi, but I do use a cable for that - and in the car.

For all other charging needs, wireless is the way to go.

Turn on wireless synch.

Ultimately the goal is a completely wireless device with no external connectors. Because connectors are usually the #1 failure point in electrical devices.

Inductive charging is awesome.

I have a wireless charger, too, (which is great) but the fast charging comes in very handy when traveling or when you just need a fast charge.

Apple sold 42 million iPhones last quarter. Im betting 39 million of them were never plugged into any computer. Im sure the case is same on the andriod side. The *need* to plug into a computer is going (or is practially gone) away.

In my household, with 4 iMacs and a MBP -- and 4 iPads, 3 iPhones and 1 iPod -- not one has ever been plugged into a mac. Or synched with one even. iCloud. 99ยข.

I would do wireless in the car too. =)

Heres the deal with wireless -- you leave the house and go to work... and drop your phone on the charger. Answer, take a call, drop it back on the charger. Go home, drop it on the charger. go to bed, drop it on the charger. Your phone is rarely ever *not* charging.

travelling? Get an external battery. $5. heck, Get several. Problem solved.

I take a lot of pics with my phone. I like to have them synced to my iMac.

I use Dropbox to sync & backup. Need the cable for this.
